Ep. 38 - The Final Round (4) is the thirty-eighth episode of Hand Jumper.
Plot[]
This Episode begins with an exploration of Jungwoo Do's thoughts and past. We see Jungwoo physically attack someone making fun of him, with others shocked by his behaviour and saying that aberrants all behave in this way. Jungwoo thinks about the fact that it is socially acceptable to do many things, but not to committ an act of violence. However, seeing Min cutting off Taeho's hand, Jungwoo realizes that here in the Aberrant Corps, such violence is allowed. Jungwoo therefore decided in the third round to take things up a notch.
Jungwoo also believes that he knows Sayeon to be a harmless teacher's pet. We see a flashback of Jungwoo's past. In the flashback, Sayeon is giving a speech to her school assembly, and Jungwoo in attendance asks Jaeil whether she's the one who has been tutoring him. When he says yes, Jungwoo doesn't understand why Sayeon would bother with him. Sayeon being a top scorer in national exams, Jungwoo believes he knows everything there is to know about her.
Back from the flashback, we see Sayeon counter Jungwoo's attack as shown in the previous episode. He is utterly confused about how Sayeon is beating him, and his anger at her hurting him makes him go past his usual limits when it comes to inflicting violence. Therefore, Jungwoo uses his gift to retaliate, and impales Sayeon through the stomach as shown at the end of Episode 37. Jungwoo is shocked at what he has just done to her, and is punched in the face by an angry Iseul. Meanwhile, Ryujin calls out to Sayeon, worried.
Although Sayeon is dazed, she doesn't feel much pain. She tries to jump back in time, but doesn't have enough essence left. She quietly whispers to Tsubaki, who is standing before her, to tell Sang to end the match. Tsubaki, worried about Sayeon, moves closer to hear Sayeon better, and asks to confirm if she wants to call off the match. Sayeon uses Tsubaki's closeness to grab the blue baton away from her.
