Ep. 43 - A Perfect Lie is the forty-third episode of Hand Jumper.

Plot[]

This episode continues the scene of Sayeon in Sang's office. She tells Sang that she doesn't know who Sara Lee is. While she knows that Sang suspects her, she also knows that Sang cannot prove she is lying. Sang gives a tired look, and tells Sayeon that she has met Sara Lee before, that fourteen years ago the Corps did a sting operation against a Sea Wolves warehouse. The operation was led by a Lieutenant Baek, and a few Sea Wolves members were captured. Sang tells Sayeon that Sara visited Baek's home in retaliation and murdered his daughter.

The scene shifts to Sara Lee sitting at a table with the severed head of Baek's daughter in front of her. A young Miyeon Sang enters the room. Sara Lee, disappointed that it was not Lieutenant Baek who entered the room, tells her to go and tell other Corps members she's here. Sara knew Sang's name, and also said that she believed Baek would want to come and face her alone, because "people are so very attached to their children." We then see that Sang has been telling this story to Sayeon - who is unsurprised.

The next few panels tell the reader that Sang is often called the judge hand, because of her judicious nature and uncanny ability to tell truth from lie. Sang then asks Sayeon what a criminal like Sara Lee deserves as punishment. Sayeon responds by saying that she deserves to die, and that she deserves to have one of her children killed as well. Sang's thoughts reveal that she believes Sayeon to be related to Sara Lee, but also believes that Sayeon is saying her true beliefs.

Sang then tells Sayeon to go back to her cell, and tell the others what her gift is. Sayeon is surprised, but Sang explains that Sayeon must have used her gift in order to be able to outmaneuvre Jungwoo Do (episode 37). We cut back to Sayeon telling her cell about her gift (shown in episode 42). Sayeon lies, and tells the cell that her gift gives her a strong instinct on what to do next in any given situation. Iseul asks her more in detail about her gift, and Sayeon says that she cannot see the future and does not know why her instinct is telling her to do something. Sayeon believes this to be the perfect lie, which will allow her to use her gift however she pleases, but Ryujin says out loud to the group that she doesn't believe Sayeon is telling them the full story. Sayeon thinks that people knowing her real gift makes them a liability, and would make everyone doubt her, so she continues in her lie.

The next scene, on Sayeon's third day in the aberrant corps, sees Sayeon wrapped up in Juni Chang's ribbons. Juni is giving formal training, and tells Sayeon she failed abysmally.
