Ep. 44 - Freak is the forty-fourth episode of Hand Jumper.

Plot[]

This episode begins with a young Juni Chang graduating to become an officer of the Aberrant Corps as one of only two surviving trainees of her year. The other survivor, Ishaan Cha, is relieved that he is graduating, but we see in Juni's thoughts that she hates the Aberrant Corps for making her go through training, and that she doesn't want to care about anything anymore, now that her cell has died.

At the end of their training, Cell 4 wants some feedback from Juni. Juni tells them that given their performance, none of them will reach level three. None of the aberrants managed to take the baton from her hands. Iseul simply threw some rocks at Juni with is gift, Ryujin didn't even try, and Min almost managed to beat her, but stopped in the middle of it. Min explains that he didn't think he could take the baton from her without risking linflicting permanent damage to her. Juni is smitten, but says that if Min disrespects her like that again she'll kill him. Finally, Juni tells Sayeon that she was particularly disappointed with her since she was expecting more from her gift than just attacking Juni and failing. Sayeon says that it was the best course of action she had, and we see in her thoughts that this is true. Sayeon had no way of manipulating the situation to give her an advantage using her gift. Sayeon decides she needs to get stronger.

The next scene is Sayeon trying and failing to crush an apple in her hand in a cafeteria of the third Aberrant Corps HQ. Iseul is trying and failing too, but he says that aberrants with activated essence should easily be able to do this. We see Ryujin consider whether she can do this, but then cell 3 arrives to eat lunch. Dahee goes to Sayeon to ask if she's recovered from her wounds from the capture-the-flag match, and Sayeon says the infirmary healed her. Then, Taeho walks up to Min and calls him a freak.
