Ep. 4 - Flying the Nest is the fourth episode of Hand Jumper
Plot[]
Sayeon Lee feels her aberrant essence for the first time, she feels like there is the liquid fire running down her veins and she feels powerful. She sees the electric blue color of her essence and she remembers the color very well; her flashback starts showing up, reminding her of Samin, her sister, killing someone when she was young.
Officer Ahn calls Sayeon, making her flinch. Sayeon still doesn't believe that she is an aberrant and says that this is a misunderstanding. Before she finishes her sentence, officer Cha uses his gift to grab her foot, making her fall on the ground. Both officers look at her, officer Ahn looks at her with a smile, while officer Cha gives her a distant look. Officer Ahn leans towards Sayeon, holding her hand and congratulate her, Sayeon reacts with a surprised face and says she isn't an aberrant and she can't even use essence before officer Cha puts an essence cuff on her wrist. Sayeon still doesn't believe she is an aberrant she says that she doesn't have any gift and never exhibited signs while sweating and panicking. Officer Ahn tells her to get used to it and they will be taking her to the third corps building on the next day. She also says that not knowing how to use essence doesn't mean that the person is not an aberrant they just didn't activate them before. Then, she explains that her gift can interact with the essence of others because she has yellow essence, and there are 8 types of essence each of them have different usages. She asked Sayeon to come to school at 7am in the next day.
In the evening, Sayeon talks to herself to not cry. Then, she starts realizing that she breathed nothing but school for her entire life but all the good grades don't matter anymore. She also realizes that in the past three years, she never been happy and felt so lifeless. Her flashback shows up again, it is about when she studied at school in the nighttime. Her friend, Jaeil entered the classroom with a glass of bubbled tea and asked her to take a break. They walked out of the classroom and talked to eachother.
Sayeon imagines talking to Jaeil in her own thoughts that she doesn't care what he is doing right now, but she just wants him to pick up the phone because, she wants to talk to him for the last time before she moves to the aberrant corps.
Samin knocks the door and realizes that Sayeon is home early. She asks her about her aberrancy test, but Sayeon refuses to talk about it. She asks Samin about how she doesn't want her to leave and want her to run with her sister's gang. She then asks about why Samin thinks killing people is okay. Samin asks her back about why she doesn't think the corps will make her do the same. Sayeon replied to her back, saying she will never kill someone unless they really, really deserve death. Samin disagrees with her and remind her that the corps also disposed of their mother.
