Ep. 53 - Unmaker (Season Finale) is the fifty-third episode of Hand Jumper and the final episode of Season 1.
Plot[]
Min walks in on the conversation between Sayeon and Ryujin. Ryujin tells Min to drink with her, because she really hated spending time with Sayeon. Ryujin is knocked out after one bottle of alcohol. With Ryujin unconscious, Sayeon asks Min whether the Corps kills off weaker aberrants. She says she has heard this rumour before, and that she believes it is spread by illegal aberrants to make the Corps look bad. Sayeon then tells Min that her whole family is made up of illegal aberrants, and says that Min probably doesn't care since he also probably grew up around illegal aberrants.
Sayeon says that Min probably won't say what he feels anyway, and that what she doesn't know won't kill her. Sayeon thinks out loud that she can't believe she told Min of her family before Jaeil but doesn't finish the sentence. Her thoughts reveal that she's committed to becoming an officer of the Corps, but afraid of what Jaeil will think of her when she tells him the full truth. Sayeon tells Jaeil that she needs to go see a friend and leaves the group promising to return before sunrise.
A bottle of alcohol in her hand, Sayeon makes her way to Jaeil's home. Sayeon notices that the streets feel empty, and that people must be afraid to leave their homes. Sayeon thinks of a time past where Jaeil phsyically punched someone who was harassing her. Then she talks to herself, saying that this time she will be the one to protect Jaeil. She cringes from her own cheesiness. Sayeon thinks that she wants to become someone worthy of kindness and knocks on the door of Jaeil's home.
Jaeil's father opens the door, overjoyed to see her. He asks her whether Jaeil is with her, but doesn't see him around. He says that Jaeil must be upset at him, but still should have come and visited him himself. Sayeon asks Mr. Kim why Jaeil would be with her. Mr. Kim says that Jaeil is training at the aberrant corps with her and left without saying him goodbye; he says Jaeil hasn't spoken to him since the aberrancy test. Mr. Kim says that only Jaeil's maternal granpa was an aberrant, so he was surprised at the news. Sayeon asks him how, if he hasn't seen Jaeil since the test, he knows Jaeil is in the Aberrant Corps. Mr. Kim says that a female Corps officer with white hair told him in person. Sayeon realizes he's speaking about Ahn.
Sayeon's thoughts are racing. She considers that Jaeil is definitely not at the corps, that she hasn't seen him anywhere, and that he would have told her if he was. Sayeon questions in her mind why the Corps would be lying about him. Mr. Kim, seeing Sayeon's stare, tells her that she's beginning to worry him, and asks if something happened to Jaeil. Sayeon's heart starts racing and she begins to sweat with stress before using her gift to jump back to before she knocked on Mr. Kim's door. Sayeon leaves without speaking to Mr. Kim.
Sayeon tries to think through what has happened, and at first is in denial about Jaeil being dead. Thinking through every possibility, Sayeon is stuck with the fact that Officer Ahn lied about him being in the Corps. Full of rage and despair, Sayeon crushes the bottle in her hand. Sayeon thinks that she had already decided she wanted to advance through the corps but reasons that since Ahn is responsible in some way for Jaeil's death, and she is a level eight officer, the Corps must have approved of Jaeil's death. Sayeon is confronted with her own words which she said earlier that night to Ryujin about necessary sacrifices for the greater good. Sayeon, wrought with grief and anger, decides that at point that she needs to take her revenge on Officer Ahn, and kill her.
The scene changes to Samin holding the USB stick that Jiwook and Minnie gave her. Samin tells someone that two weeks ago, a dormant Godling named Lilith was discovered off the coast of Seju island. Samin says that once news spreads, every organization in the country will try to take it for themselves. Samin says that Lilith is a weapon of mass destruction and that a storm is coming. Samin tells the person she's talking to to no longer simply observe Sayeon, but also protect her. The next panel reveals that Min Woo is the person Samin is talking to, and that he works for her. Samin calls him "White".
