Ep. 6 - The Instructor is the sixth episode of Hand Jumper

Plot[]

Sayeon looks at the white-haired boy with a surprised face. His face looks very terrifying to her, make she thinks that he looks like he's done ten years at the federal penitentiary. The boy has white hair, white eyes, and pale skin, reminds her of officer Ahn, but before she asks the question, officer Cha interrupts and tells them to go inside the building. The white-haired boy asks him if it is the corps building or not, officer Cha looks surprised and asks him why he didn't know, he also asks which officer drove the boy here. The boy says officer Juni Chang was supposed to pick him up, but she never came so he ran to the building instead. Officer Cha takes them to the training room and asks if they brought some things in because, they needed to be searched for contraband. Sayeon gives him her backpack, officer Cha lets them in to see the instructor and warns them not to piss her off. Sayeon gets in, the kids in the training room stare at her. Instructor Sang calls her and the white-haired boy, asking them why they were late. Sayeon looks at the instructor's tie and see the number nine (IX) on it, she says that the officer picked her up later than other recruits. Instructor Sang slowly walks towards her and asks Sayeon that if she always blame others for her own mistakes. The instructor then said that Ms. Ryujin Kang who took the same car as hers get here on time, but Sayeon didn't. Sayeon sweats and says that she was talking to the officer and didn't realize the time. Instructor Sang asks the white-haired boy why he was late, he says that he didn't run fast enough, instructor Sang tells Sayeon that the kind of answer she's willing to accept is short, simple, and cognizant of one's own failings like what the white-haired boy answered. Instructor Sang then activates her essence and hits the white-haired boy, making him falls on the ground. She says that both Sayeon and the white-haired boy belong to cell 4, she also says that when the member of the team succeeds or fails, it will affect the whole team, like how the world works. She tells the recruits to perform well and she will award them their cell points.

  • Each cell will start with level 1 (I) (blue ties)
  • Earning 5 points will take the cell members to level 2 (II)
  • Another 10 will take them to level 3 (III)
  • Another 20 will take them to level 4 (IV)
  • Another 40 will take them to level 5 (V) (where cell members become officers and receive a red tie)
  • Another 80 will take them to level 6 (VI)
  • Another 160 will take them to level 7 (VII)
  • Another 320 will take them to level 8 (VIII)
  • Another 640 will take them to level 9 (IX)
  • Another 1280 points will take them to level 10 (X)

But Instructor Sang tells the recruits that reaching the higher levels is unlikely, because the trainee years have a fatality rate of 80%. That means among the 20 recruits, only four of them will live to receive a red tie. Sayeon thinks about the time she watched the news about the prosecutor's death, it was not the feeling of fear that got in her mind, it was the thought of doing better than that prosecutor. She thinks that she can survive if she tries hard enough, because the 20% there is nothing compared to her top 0.5% grades in national exams. Instructor Sang stares at her, Sayeon looks away with an awkward smile. The instructor tells her where to find her cell room and takes out her essence cuff.
